| Ponte building sunrise & sunset |

Probably the most noticeable and iconic building in Johannesburg, the infamous ponte building. |

| I loved filming there, we had the whole top floor to ourselves, we could shoot in any direction and watch jo’burg from above. Ironically I felt safer up there than on the streets of joburg. Quite overwhelming watching the electric city come alive just after sunset. Sunel Haasbroek - Director of Photography It was definitely written down in my moleskine notebook of things to do before I die (don’t ask me why) but today I got to pick up my calligraphy pen and put a bold black line through the words “See view from top of Ponte Tower, Johannesburg”. Oh what a glorious view, albeit that of a city – that of sky-rise buildings, a mass of houses and an infinite amount of winding highways and byways. I slid open a tinted window to let in the sounds of the city below and poked my head out gingerly to get a perspective on things – we were up on the 49th floor and I suddenly felt giddy. Wow. I threw a paper plane that Duane handed me out the window and watched it drift slowly and effortlessly down, down, down until it landed on a ledge just a few floors below… I now had real perspective and opted to stand back and watch as the most brilliant orange and yellow beams bounced off different surfaces all over the city – colours diffused by the sun setting in the west. Going down in what must have been the dodgiest lift in the whole of Johannesburg, I felt a little prickle of hairs rising on my arms, my shoulders giving a little random shake. Happiness.
